While I wait for the 6D to arrive and for time to go out and take photos, I’ve been converting some old photos.
I called this one “Ivy tunnel”. It was taken in Paris on the 30/09/2006 using the old Canon 350D + Canon 17-55 f/2.8 IS.
I converted it to monochrome using 3 layers:
- One for the background, converted to B&W using a green filter.
- One for the gravel at the bottom of the picture by reducing exposure by a couple of stops.
- One for under the ivy, by pushing the exposure by a couple of stops.
I merged them all in Gimp and then added vignetting. Finally, I added a strong file grain because I don’t like my B&W to be too clean.
