Project Mid-Life 52 #3

I was thinking of maybe having themes for each week, but decided against it since it would add complication and would make it even harder to do things in time (I don’t have a backlog for this yet). So this week it’s random again.

I. Body

Hand

It’s only recently that I’ve realised that my hands were starting to look old. Even if you ignore the cat scratch marks. The skin is more textured than it was, you can see the tendons more. It’s weird to see your body age in front of you when you don’t have the same feeling of becoming old in your head.

II. Objects

Berber rug

We brought back this Berber woollen rug from Morocco a few years ago. We really like it and it’s hanging on the wall in the downstairs bedroom in the Moroccan corner.

We don’t normally bring back things from our travels other than exhibition posters. But that was one of the exceptions.

III. Places

Home observatory

I built that observatory a number of years ago when the smaller one, that was just next to this one, became too small for the 300mm Newton. It had an automatic sliding roof with weather sensor, and was entirely automated so I didn’t need to supervise it.

Unfortunately it got its roof blown off by a storm two years ago and ended up in the street. It weighed a ton, so I had to break it to move it. I haven’t replaced it. I have two telescopes in Spain, this one wasn’t really needed anymore.
